The trolley coming to Lancaster reminds me of the Monorail episode from the Simpsons. A town has money to spend and decides to spend on something useless. Such a dumb idea.

In response to “A Center is Born”
What ever happened to the nine others that were part of their original group? Who were they, and what organizations/businesses did they represent? Why do we no longer hear of any of them? This is a story worthy of Sixty Minutes………Mike Wallace would have a field day!!!
Single payer issue: Corporate interests vs. what is best for country
I appreciate your support on single payer. This could be a major event not just for health care (which is big enough) but also for a lot of other issues because getting single payer comes down to what every other issue comes down to — the status quo corporate interests vs. what is best for the […]
NewsLanc oversimplifies drug rehabilitation
Have you done any checking into what it involved in drug rehabilitation? Did you research any successful programs in any nearby cities (Philly comes to mind)? Your editorial sounds noble and the outrage is certainly an attention-getter. But it shows a basic lack of understanding of the scope of addiction and the services required. Addiction […]
“Kiss ass” Sunday News article on General Hospital
I am aghast at the front-page article in the recent Sunday News detailing yet another 100 million dollar profit for Lancaster General Hospital during the recent financial year. And the gall of the Lancaster Newspapers to paint poor Lancaster General as their profit margin was less 23 million dollars from the previous year. First off, […]
Lancaster Newspapers no longer duped?
Right now the people who are behind [the convention center] project don’t need us to make a fool of them; they are doing a pretty good job of making a fool of themselves. Note that I do NOT include the LCCCA board in this comment. As I said two years ago, now that the bonds […]
Untreated heroin addicts
I love your printing stuff on treatment however please remember that: Most don’t care – first convince them they should Most don’t know – talk in simpler terms
More re “water infiltration” of dump
Waste would also need to be removed from the East Hempfield side of the tracks, due to Lancaster Malleable dumping there well past 1980. Malleable dumped on the west side of the creek for most of the years I have lived here, and I move in during 1983.
Reynolds Construction was too small for CC job
Mayor Gray lobbied for the PA League of Cities annual conference and, from what I was told, sold his soul. He was not at the meeting last evening. Bet he was on the phone to his people on the Authority and the High group that they had better produce. Rest assured this project will be […]
Potential CC disaster in the making?
We received a notice from D.I.D. today, announcing that the PA League of Cities annual conference is booked at the CC for June 23-25. They are expecting mayors and representatives from over 400 cities across the state. I honestly can’t think of a bigger or more shameful kick in the guts for Lancaster than to […]
Response to “LETTER: Whom was Stevens & Lee serving?”
An excellent question. As counsel to the public body, LCCCA, in negotiations with a private developer for a complex, private/public venture, Stevens & Lee should not be allowed to represent both parties. That obvious conflict would be laughable if it were not happening. The problem is not just this conflict of interest, as you know, […]
CC delays not funny to local comedians
My brother and I were in attendance at the convention center meeting Wednesday night. We were the guys who had the upcoming comedy event planned at the Marriott. We have been residing in the Lancaster area for the last 20 years. We started a small entertainment company. We have hosted and produced several comedy and […]
Q&A: F&M’S PLAN TO ERECT POLE LIGHTS AT BUCHANAN PARK
–Prepared by several city and township residents who are patrons of Buchanan Park. 5/4/09 Where are these pole lights to be placed? The plan is for a row of boulevard-style pole lights, erected along the western boundary of Buchanan Park. They are to be parallel to the row of maple trees and placed between the […]
Horror stories re leaking CC
Wow!!!! I have not even set foot on the property and said July. I am afraid we may even see August. The question is, why does the LCCCA have to pick up the tab for High and the Reynold’s companies? Nothing against our current executive director; however someone should have seen this circus coming.
