LANCASTER INTELLIGENCER NEW ERA

The Intell editorial “GM bailout pays off” points out the GM bailout “has returned billions of dollars o the public treasury, GM is still a major American employer – with many more workers at affiliated car dealers- with interesting vehicles now for sale and in the pipeline.” Then goes on to acknowledge “This isn’t to sayi that GM has paid back all the money it received from the government…the government  will need to sell its remaining 500 million shares at an average price of $53 each to break even.  The stock is currently trading in the mid-$30s.”

The New Era editorial “Who to blame for memos’ release” observes “The result:  Confidences broken.  Secrets betrayed.  Hidden alliances exposed.   Prevention a reoccurrence of this monumental security breach must be the first order of business.”

WATCHDOG: The level of research and thought behinds these editorials does credit to both editorial staffs and our community, whether or not one happens to agree with their points of view.  Whoever was allowed from time to time to write counter factual and  low brow editorials for the New Era must have been dispatched to the circulation side of the business, because we haven’t encountered such anomalies in many months.

A wag of the tail for both, and perhaps an extra one for the New Era editors for acting more responsibly.
