As for the Lancaster Solid Waste Management Authority taking over the incinerator, Reid voted against that mainly due to the disparity between city and Dauphin County tipping fees.

“The sale of the incinerator – the time [for that] has come, but leaves much of the burden on residents:,” Reid said. “For 20 years, the poorest people in Dauphin County will have to pay $190 tipping fees.”… (more)

EDITOR: By paying three times what it itself valued the Harrisburg incinerator, the Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority placed the citizenry of Lancaster County at risk of having to pay similar high rates at a future date. Good business judgment or hubris?
