Legalization of gay marriage in US triggered hot reaction in Russia. Judging by Russian media, most of Russians of different political and religious backgrounds oppose to the action. For some strange reason they see the decision of the US Supreme Court not as an internal American affair, but rather as an act of aggression against Russia.

Official representative of Russian Orthodox Church Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin made a statement that the US government is trying to “impose their anti-natural and ‘post-human’ view of marriage to other countries.”

He said: “They may not say openly that they want to force you to accept such a godless and sinful thing as same-sex ‘marriages’. But in fact they want to take away from you the right to live by faith, take away your soul, take away from you an opportunity to build the life of your community and your state by the eternal and unchanging, God-given moral law.”

It’s interesting and even kind of shocking to me that a lot of representatives of Russian democratic opposition, being sympathetic to US, still passionately opposed to the new law. The popular writer Mikhail Veller said in his interview to Radio Ekho Moskv:

“You know my very positive attitude to the US, so I will refrain from the judgment that they’ve got what they deserved. But, in general, of course it is a great misfortune. Because it means that civilization once again had crossed a major line on the way towards its rapidly developing and impending doom. Nothing else.”

Most of Russian comments of the decision of the US Supreme Court show no sympathy for the US.

The most typical is a long interview with Yuri Belous, the director of the so-called Institute for the Scientific Research of the Third Millennium. The website of the Institute claims that a large body of it’s research is devoted to “the history of criminal activities of the CIA and the US government, its policies to capture the world’s resources, crimes against humanity, as well as exposing the actions of the fifth column in the Russian Federation and the fight against programming of Russian society by pro-Western media.” The interview, entitled “By supporting LGBT movement, ‘progressive’ America strikes blow to the whole of humanity.” It is published in the one of the most popular Russian papers “Komsomolskaya Pravda”.

In his interview Yuri Belous presents the describes world events after WWII as a chain of action of the western world programmed to ruin our civilization and especially aimed to the destruction of Russia.

His list of such events includes: sexual revolution of 60s, Hollywood’s violent films, spread of drugs, legalization of abortions, family control, disintegration of family values. The legalization of gay marriage is presented as the last event in the chain.

Yuri Belous warns:

“There are many effects of the aggressive imposition of LGBT on the world. It is a blow to the demographics, and the movement toward total control over society. It is easier to impose immoral decisions over a society without moral principles.

“Thinking globally, the fall of moral values historically always led to the fall of civilizations… occurrence of ‘dark ages’. If we do not stop this epidemic today – tomorrow may be too late. It is impossible to integrate into our society morally fallen ‘Western world.’ Recall how biblical Sodom and Gomorrah, which made the same social experiment in the past, were destroyed”.

In fact Yuri Belous calls for a war against Western World. His call is not a rarity in today’s Russia. Most of people on Russians streets would tell you that the war is already started. Some would add that they are happy about it.

In the beginning of this article I quoted an interview with the official representative of Russian Orthodox Church Vsevolod Chaplin.

His other interview became one of the Russian sensations of the last week. The archpriest said:

“If a society is living a certain number of decades, let’s say a couple of decades, in relative peace, well-fed tranquility, safety, it can stay secular. No one will want to die for the free market or for the democracy, but the need to die will inevitably come to people sooner or later. Peace is never long. Thank God it’s now finally came to end. Why do I say ‘Thank God’? A society in which there are too many well-fed, relaxed, hassle-free people, who are living a comfortable life, such a society is abandoned by God, this society does not live long… When people got used to living too peacefully, it is better to have a war.”

Recently in a Siberian city of Bratsk, to celebrate the Day of Youth Holliday, there was arranged a competition of beating up an image of President Obama with legs. It was called “Kick Obama”. The winner was one who would manage to hit president’s face most times.

Here is the video of the “competition”:
