Key state labor leader isn’t fighting Wolf’s liquor reform proposal, and that’s one hurdle cleared

PENNLIVE: … Wolf, in a bid to win compromises on his desired tax and spending increases from Republican legislative leaders who control the House and Senate, has proposed turning the keys to Pennsylvania’s existing retail and wholesale liquor monopoly over to a private manager in one big bundle…

That manager, according to sketches of the program released by the administration earlier this month, would then be able to more quickly and efficiently take steps to modernize the system…

Central to that understanding is that Wolf’s plan would guarantee current and future liquor system workers are state employees, paid by and continuing to negotiate future collective bargaining agreements with the government…(more)

EDITOR: Had Tom Corbett made the same suggestion, we would assumed that the reason would be huge political contributions tied to the giveaway. Until shown otherwise, we have some skepticism about the practicality of Wolf’s proposal. Would he be putting ‘the fox in charge of the chicken coop’?
