Joe Paterno’s last win: 55 to 45

The following comments are posted at www.PennLive.com concerning Tom Wolf’s overwhelming victory over Gov. Tom Corbett with 55% of the vote despite a Republican landslide year:

1) “The Penn State effect in Central PA is undeniable. Comparing 2010 to 2014 Corbett received 9% less of the vote. Yet in the most Republican counties in Central PA where people vote straight party Republican his percentage of the vote declined double digits in an election that Republicans are sweeping the other 49 states. Examples of how much Corbett was down in Republican central PA: Centre -12, Huntington -16, Union -15, Lancaster -13, Clinton -17, Jefferson -12, Blair -16, Juniata -12, Perry -12. Yet in the Philly , area and Western PA the drop is -5 to -8.”

2) “It’s amazing what 300,000 PSU alumni can do.”

3) “And not just the alums but the psu sympathizers who are not alums throughout Central PA”

What is also “amazing” is either the ignorance or neglect of the media to discuss the implications on the campaign of the “slow walking” of Jerry Sandusky, the firing of Joe Paterno, and the craven acceptance of NCAA draconian sanctions. From reading the papers, one would have thought the issues were state stores, education and taxes.
