Article “Anger building over Lancaster city project, RRTA terminates construction contract; builder responds with court filing” reports:

RRTA owes Perrotto $1.3 million for work done as far back as June. The agency’s withholding of payment has prevented Perrotto from paying subcontractors, who have since stopped coming to work at the North Queen/East Chestnut streets construction site.”

WATCHDOG: The obvious question to the reader, as it should have been to the editor and the reporter, is why the Red Rose Transportation Authority has withheld $1.3 million in payment.   It must have been explained in the public documents before the court.

Because of the deficient reporting, we don’t know the facts in this case.  It is not unusual for contractors to ‘borrow from Peter to pay Paul’ and at a certain time it catches up with them and the suppliers and sub-contractors decline to work until they are paid for past services.  Or perhaps it is a quality issue and invoices have been rejected until corrections are made.  Or it could be something else.  Sloppy reporting.  Growl.

  1. Typical of Lancaster Newspapers….where is the follow-up to the recent shooting? The recent suicides at Lancaster County Prison and the Lancaster City Police Station???

Oh I forgot….”Frankly, Lancaster is the envy of simiar cities” because “Frankly the ‘quality of life’ continues to improve” and “Frankly, we have a ‘jewel’ in the the downtown convention center and hotel”.

    What a crock!!!!!!

    GROWL!!!!!
