Day-old infant left in emergency room..it’s legal!

From the WASHINGTON COUNTY OBSERVER-REPORTER:

…The infant dropped off last week at the Washington Hospital emergency room turned out to be the first baby in Washington County to be classified as such under Pennsylvania’s 9-year-old Safe Haven Law…

Pennsylvania’s Safe Haven law allows the person leaving the baby to provide family medical information if they choose, or they can take a health history form to fill out later and mail anonymously.

“As long as the baby is less than 28 days old and not harmed or abused, they will not get into trouble with the police,” the DPW fact sheet states…

EDITOR: The law is testimony that our legislators have some common sense.   Instead of the child being a hardship (or ending up even worse) to its natural parents, it will have a good chance of growing up in a loving home. Here is a welcome alternative to abortion!

  1. Does anybody try to see if the dad knows and perhaps wants the child? Or is this another example of how mothers have all rights – even to give the child to the government without dad having a say?
