LNP headlines “U.S. Rep. Joe Pitts will not seek re-election in 2016” This has long been rumored and its anticipation was likely reason for County Commissioner Scott Martin not standing for re-election. We had presumed that Martin would be Pitt’s successor.
However, the article goes on to state:
“With Pitts bowing out, at least four Lancaster County Republicans — County Commissioner Scott Martin, state Sen. Lloyd Smucker, aide to former Republican presidents Don Eberly and Manheim businessman Chet Beiler — say they are mulling a run to replace him.”
So we see two likelihoods: A Martin vs. Smucker donnybrook or a cordial trading of positions from Pitt to Smucker and Smucker to Martin.
Martin would enhance either position.
