Penn Square Partners proposed $23 million project at taxpayers risk missing from LNP print publication

LancasterOnLine carried a lead article “Downtown Marriott’s owner proposes 96-room, $23M expansion” dated today, November 7th, but it does not appear in the newspaper edition.

An excerpt from the article reads:

“Penn Square Partners announced Friday it wants to expand the almost six-year-old Lancaster Marriott to the east, constructing a 12-story addition with 96 rooms.

“Costing $23 million to $25 million, the project would include first-floor retail space and a rooftop lounge and bar.”

If LNP were not co-partner in the equitable ownership of the Marriott as well as in the proposed edition, the article would in itself be big news.

Given the conflict, it being missing from the print edition is especially worrisome.

Perhaps LNP’s intention is to run the article in its Sunday print edition, given other important breaking news today. We hope so.

We will soon discuss various aspects of this questionable proposal.
