What’s happening around Lancaster this week?

The Lancaster Barnstormers play home games against the Long Island Ducks every day this week. Each game through Saturday is at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday’s game is at 1:35 p.m. Friday’s and Saturday’s (Sep. 5-6) games feature fireworks and Sunday’s (Sep. 7) features a mini bat giveaway. Monday through Wednesday the Barnstormers play the Long Island Ducks and Thursday through Sunday, it’s the Somerset Patriots. Also Friday, September 5th, the comedian “Larry the Cable Guy” comes to the Toyota Arena York Expo Center at 8:00 p.m. The expo center is located at 334 Carlisle Avenue in York. Additional information and tickets may be obtained by clicking here.

Friday, Septmeber 5th, the “Yoga Path” in Lancaster is having its “First Friday Kirtan.” Experience the uplifting energy of Kirtan, a form of group chanting from ancient India. Afterwards enjoy a sampling of delicious Ayurvedic vegetarian foods, flavored with exotic and healing Indian spices.” Admission is $10 at the door. As part of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, the Mount Hope Estate & Winery in Manheim is hosting “Friday Knights at the Improv,” stand-up comedy acts for adults by Renaissance Faire actors who break character and do a little improvisation. Friday, September 5th, Village Greens Golf, Inc. in Strasburg is mixing it up with “Glo Golf” from 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Golfers, each with their own glo necklace, aim glowing balls for glowing holes in this exciting twist on traditional miniature golf! On Friday, Septmeber 5th, around lunchtime, Penn Square in downtown Lancaster will, for the last time this summer, be serenaded with music. Friday, it’s “traditional swing jazz” by the group, “For the Love of Jazz.” The group will be playing from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in the Fulton Bank quadrant of Penn Square. The performance is sponsored by Fulton Bank and the City of Lancaster in partnership with the Greater Lancaster Federation of Musicians.
