UTTER NONSENSE: Corbett ceremonially signs health care apology bill

CAPITOLWIRE: [Gov. Tom] Corbett on Wednesday ceremonially signed a bill to allow health care providers to apologize for an error without fear of reprisal in court.

“Today we’re taking another step forward to improve the health and well-being of Pennsylvania’s citizens,” said Corbett Wednesday morning prior to the signing ceremony in his state Capitol reception room.

“I’m signing a bill that improves the health care provider/patient relationship that will also help lower the cost of healthcare,” said Corbett. “This new apology rule … will allow health care providers from all across the state to apologize and communicate with patients and their families, and not have those statements or gestures used against them. ..

EDITOR: In other words, Corbett and our legislature has legalized providers speaking out of two sides of their mouths. They can acknowledge their error but take no responsibility for them.

How does this serve the patient’s needs? All they get is lip services. Not even roses.

What utter nonsense!
