Truth-seeking runs into the fog of war in suit against Penn State’s NCAA sanctions

HARRISBURG PATRIOT-NEWS: …After the first conference call with the presidents on his executive committee and Division I board, NCAA President Mark] Emmert said, “there certainly was a very strong sentiment to… impose the death penalty and for multiple years.”

That was what he relayed to then-President Rodney Erickson, and it’s certainly a message that Erickson – and Penn State’s outside counsel hired to help – received loud and clear…

“Some people spoke in favor of it (a death penalty), or that it should be part of the package; others said they weren’t so sure. Others didn’t speak up at all,” [Oregon State University President Ed Ray] testified… (more)

EDITOR: As NewsLanc argued then and is being proven today, the NCAA was poorly informed far exceeded its authority. Meanwhile, the Penn State board and administration, led by Gov. Tom Corbett, cravenly failed to defend Penn State’s interests.
