There’s no end in sight to ongoing turmoil at Penn State

READING EAGLE Editorial: … the former Penn State administrators accused of covering up complaints about Sandusky have yet to stand trial. Former President Graham Spanier, former Vice President Gary Schultz and former athletic director Tim Curley maintain their innocence. It seems inevitable that their trials are likely to reveal a few more embarrassing details about how Penn State leaders fumbled their opportunities to stop Sandusky from victimizing children he was supposed to be helping…

Part of the rationale for Penn State leaders accepting harsh NCAA sanctions in 2012 was to help the institution move on from what had been a crippling situation in State College.

But a very loud contingent of Penn State alumni won’t allow that to happen. From their point of view, the institution in general and the late coach Joe Paterno in particular should not have been penalized for Sandusky’s wrongdoing… (more)
