Sunday News makes careless error concerning how children should sleep

Under “Catching up on the news” appearing on the front page of the “B” Section, the item “Infant deaths” erroneously reports “Assistant District Attorney Randy Miller said some infants who died in their sleep here recently might have lived if parents had placed the children on their stomach…”

In the actual earlier article “County prosecutors say parents can prevent deaths if they’re careful when putting babies to bed”, the recommendation was “Train the child to sleep on their back …”

It is one thing to omit a negative. It is quite another not to have carefully read the article to be summarized, especially given the importance to public health.
