SUNDAY NEWS

Bill Adams’ monthly column headed “Courtesy, yes; trolleys, no” states:

“Thumbs down to the people who are pushing for trolleys in downtown Lancaster. Rip up the streets. Run strands of overhead wires. Force drivers to crawl without the opportunity to pass. Force riders to step out into the streets to get on and off. Does that make sense when for a fraction of the cost small buses that look like trolleys can cover 10 times the area of fixed rail trolleys without creating eye-sores and hazardous intersections?”

WATCHDOG: We couldn’t say it better ourselves (although we have experimented for at least two years), except to note the danger of these silent and slow stopping juggernauts to children darting out between cars.

Adams also gives “thumb down” to rude restaurant servers who impatiently interrupt table conversation, and he awards a well deserved “thumbs up” to our three commissioners for their long hours and devotion to their jobs.

A wag of the tale for the usually crotchety Adams. (From our crotchety publisher!)

  1. Bill Adams makes a lot of sense. I especially feel good and confident with the work done and responsibility assumed for our betterment by the present team of County Commissioners. There is so much that they accomplish on a daily basis that none of us get to see or feel.

Managing a large county with so many absolutely invaluable functions (services) is like managing one of the largest and most important businesses in the county. For our wellbeing, the team of County Commissioners deserves our continued support.

Before we abuse them, let’s give them a chance to tackle our issues. Keep in mind that there are a lot of individual issues and only so much semi-discretionary time and resources to address them. Make your point and see if it strikes a chord, then provide as much clarity and help as possible. They can only help us if we help them
