Sinkholes are common in Fla. (and Lancaster) but rarely cause death

USA TODAY:  …Sinkholes are nothing new in Florida. Thousands of them develop each year. Dozens of them swallow buildings.

Deaths, however, are very rare.

EDITOR: We have a similar  limestone threat here in Lancaster County and the surrounding areas. When encountered, sink holes are usually plugged, not filled.  They are then often built over. Sleep well!
