PENN LIVE: State Treasurer Rob McCord, who announced on Thursday he was resigning Feb. 12, issued a statement through his attorneys on Friday admitting he is intending to plead guilty to federal charges stemming from his campaign fund-raising efforts last spring when he was running for the Democratic nomination for governor.
He also moved up the effective date of his resignation so that it would take effect immediately.
The statement says: “Mr. McCord will be pleading guilty to certain federal charges to be filed arising out of his attempts in the spring of 2014 to raise campaign contributions from two potential contributors by communicating that if they failed to make campaign contributions, he could make it difficult for them to do business with the Commonwealth… (more)
