Re Sandusky: What did AG Tom Corbett know in 2005 and what did he do about it?

NBC Philadelphia asks: “Why didn’t Centre County District Attorney Ray Gricar prosecute Jerry Sandusky the first time he was accused in 1998? We may never know, as Gricar disappeared in 2005….” What is significant about the article is that the report tip toes around the elephant in the middle of the living room although it lacks the investigation and the guts to ask the obvious question:  “What did AG Tom Corbett know in 2005 and what did he do about it?”

The article continues It is strange that Centre County District Attorney Ray Gricar never prosecuted Jerry Sandusky on child-rape charges 13 years ago, some speculate, because Gricar was known for being fiercely independent and hard on crime.

“But it is even stranger that we cannot ask Gricar why Sandusky was not put behind bars, because the tough-as-nails district attorney disappeared in 2005. And though he was declared dead July of this year, his body has never been found…”

The New York Times published this information three days ago.  What is significant is the others are now tip toeing around posing the obvious questions.

With rumors going around State College and with information about Sandusky already on hand, the district attorney wasn’t aware of what was taking place?  With such scandalous and potentially damaging case to Penn State’s vaunted reputation, he wasn’t discussing it with Attorney General Tom Corbett and urging that the attorney general’s office take over the case?

When will the national media  ask the obvious questions of Governor Corbett and demand to see State records of conversations between Gricar and the Corbett?

And if Corbett knew about what was going on, isn’t he far more culpable than Joe Paterno?

Sodomy, pedophilia, murder… When will the story move from Coach Joe Paterno and focus on what the law enforcement officials and the attorney general were doing?  Were they part of an investigation or of a cover up?

  1. I don’t know the timeline of Corbett’s possible knowledge of Gricar’s investigation, so I can’t comment on that part of Nibbrig’s story.

Regarding Gricar’s disappearance, these recent developments certainly add an interesting twist to his apparent death and should give the investigators (both public and private) a reason to start looking at this case again in earnest.

  2. Corbett has a hand in this. INVESTIGATE. Don’t let him escape a full and complete explanation of what he knew and when.

  3. I think Gricar knew too much and some powerful, wealthy Penn State Alums (possibly even some of the ones involved in the prostitution ring he allegedly may have had) who either had an interest in protecting the university’s reputation, or even their own if they were somehow involved or could be tied to it in some way, had him whacked.

I think that evidence of what was on his computer about the Internet search he did on how to destroy a hard drive was an obvious plant that whoever orchestrated or paid for this crime had done based on the known fact that his brother had committed suicide by drowning himself in a river years before.

I mean, c’mon, if you had to make it look like a suicide, that would be a no-brainer that would be plausible enough that people would believe the lie (mainly because people will easily believe an untruth b/c it requires less of them to uncover the real truth).

I think people underestimate the money involved here and how far some will go to protect an institution in which they have a vested interest. Oh yeah, and I think Corbett has a HUGE hand in this and knows what happened to Gricar. No doubt in my mind on any of this.

  4. I agree that Corbett knew about the rape and I would like to know why he (Sandusky) wasn’t arrested. Additionally,I would like to know if there was a conspiracy of silence when no college in the USA.hired Sandusky after he was such an important part of Penn State winning a national championship?

Also, was the media a part of the cover-up as well ? I find it interesting that nobody reported Sandusky not being interviewed or hired for any college football jobs, and why….
