Questions surround Corbett’s biggest contribution

LEHIGH VALLEY MORNING CALL: A month after state lawmakers decided to study legalizing online gambling, Sheldon Adelson, the billionaire owner of the Bethlehem Sands casino and an ardent foe of online gambling, gave $1 million to the Republican Governors Association.

  1. The thing I like most about Kathleen Kane is the way she supports the governor by ignoring his law breaking campaign contributions. Yet, for some reason the Morning Call fails to point this out. Go figure.

    EDITOR: He may be venal, but to date we are not aware of his breaking laws.

  2. The Morning Call’s headline; ‘Sands magnate’s donation to GOP reached Pa. governor despite state law that forbids it.” sure sounds like the law was broken to me. But then again, when advocacy is most important, truth and context is abandoned.

    EDITOR: Sorry we missed that. From the rest of the article, it seemed that the law was not clear since the funds went to a PAC which technically distributes to various candidates. I guess this is another example of headlines being sensationalized at the cost of accuracy.
