EDITOR: The United States Government has been murdering our youngsters over years  due to willful blindness of scientific evidence and misplaced fears of this other relatively benign drug, long prescribed by psychiatrists to reduce mental inhibitions (not sexual) of their patients.

Our government has foolishly:    Banned the sale of ecstasy when it should be avialable under government supervision , as we do with alcoholic beverages, thus creating the market for adulterated pills that can be lethal.  The government has  discouraged  the sale of water at teen age gatherings.   (A danger of consuming ecstasy is a failure to drink adequate liquids).   The government is driving  youngsters to binge drinking as a way of reducing inhibitions.

Part of the maturing process for youth is staying up late and talking, talking, talking.    Marijuana can be useful in reducing anxiety levels but it has effects which may not be conducive to  communications.

What is it that causes our nation above all others in the Western world to war on ourselves? Nineteenth century newspaper publisher Horace Greeley is famous for saying “Go West young man.”  Today he might instead say “Go North young people…to Canada.”
