Pennsylvania jobless rate declines to six-year low

PITTSBURGH POST – GAZETTE: October was such a good month for jobs in Pennsylvania that it pulled up the results for the rest of the year.

The state Department of Labor and Industry released preliminary data showing unemployment fell to 5.4 percent from 5.7 percent in September. October’s unemployment rate was the lowest it has been in six years…

The 12,600 Pennsylvania jobs added last month accounted for more than a quarter of all the jobs added to the state’s payrolls over the past year, according to preliminary data that the labor department released Friday. The biggest gains came in trade, transportation and utilities, which added 5,500 jobs; and in leisure and hospitality, which gained 5,200 jobs… (more)
