Penn State’s alumni trustees win access to Freeh Report files, within limits

PENNLIVE: Penn State opened the door Monday to a process that, if all goes well, could give individual trustees a chance for the first time to review interview notes and other source material for the controversial Freeh Report on the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal.…

Freeh’s report, issued in July 2012, asserted that several of Penn State’s top leaders either failed to act on or had a direct hand in concealing early reports about sexual abuse by Sandusky from police and other outside investigators…

Trustee members seeking the document review include some of the report’s most-vocal critics, and they say only a thorough review of its raw materials can answer lingering questions among many Penn State alums and friends about Freeh’s controversial conclusions. (more)
