Penn State to Paternos: You can’t see our Freeh files

HARRISBURG PATRIOT-NEWS: …University officials objected Friday to a subpoena served by Joe Paterno’s estate on the Pepper Hamilton law firm – successor to former FBI Director Louis Freeh’s firm hired in late 2011 to lead the internal review of the university’s role in the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse saga.

The crux of Penn State’s argument is this:

Freeh’s law firm was hired as external legal counsel to lead an investigation into the Sandusky scandal, and the university, while committed to making the results of that probe public, has never waived its attorney / client privilege.

Most of the documents requested in a subpoena issued by the plaintiffs would fall under that privilege, Penn State’s lawyers assert… (more)
