Penn State stands by NCAA sanctions in court hearing today, citing “finality” on Sandusky case

HARRISBURG PATRIOT-NEWS: …The four-year regime of bowl bans and scholarship reductions, plus a $60 million fine, Daniel Booker argued, closed a period of protracted uncertainty that could have ended with a “death penalty” for the football team.

If the sanctions are voided now, he added, “then we (Penn State) aren’t sure where we are” with regard to further punishment stemming from university officials’ handling of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal…

Monday’s argument was an important preliminary round, as it represents the NCAA’s best chance to kill the case before a protracted argument on the merits of the consent decree itself.… (more)

The firing of Joe Paterno, the prejudiced so call investigation of Penn State handling of the Jerry Sandusky affair, and the quick deal with the NCCA were all part of a Tom Corbett attempt to cover up his role starting for his “slow walking” of the Sandusky investigation through the much criticized Freeh Report. (Former governor and U. S. attorney general Dick Thornburgh excoriated it.)

The voters are likely to remember these thingsin November.
