Penn State Official Denies Key Claim

Former Pennsylvania State University President Graham Spanier told investigators he never was informed that former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky was seen molesting a boy in a school shower, Mr. Spanier’s lawyers said Tuesday….

Attorneys Peter F. Vaira and Elizabeth Ainslie said Mr. Spanier spoke Friday to investigators working for former Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Louis Freeh. Mr. Freeh was hired by university trustees to determine what school officials, including Mr. Spanier and the late head coach, Joe Paterno, knew about past allegations that Mr. Sandusky had sexually abused children.

Separately, Mr. Freeh said he would release his much-anticipated report Thursday morning. His investigation involved more than 400 interviews with current and former Penn State officials. A person familiar with the report said it would focus primarily on actions taken by university personnel related to the child abuse committed by Mr. Sandusky…
