Patriots assistant Bill O’Brien set to take Penn State job

Penn State is poised to hire New England Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien to succeed legendary football coach Joe Paterno.

ESPN was first to report Thursday night that an announcement would come Saturday. O’Brien interviewed in State College on Thursday. The NFL Network reported that the interview went so well O’Brien was staying over Friday….

O’Brien joined the Patriots staff in 2007 and worked his way to his current position this season. New England finished third in scoring at 32.1 points a game and enters the playoffs as the AFC’s top seed…
