PA Gov. Tom Corbett blasts magazine article exploring his role in Paterno, Spanier firing

HARRISBURG PATRIOT-NEWS:  Gov. Tom Corbett pounced Monday on an ESPN magazine article published this month that portrayed him as a driving force in the Penn State board of trustees’ decision to fire university president Grahan Spanier and head football coach Joe Paterno last fall.

“It is totally, factually wrong,” Corbett said, during a brief press conference after an unrelated bill signing in New Cumberland. “Not even close to the facts.”

Corbett, in the past, has acknowledged helping to shape the trustees’ debate and supported the board’s actions last November in the wake of child sex abuse allegations against former coach Jerry Sandusky and two other senior administrators…   (more)

EDITOR:  The ESPN article was largely based upon NewsLanc’s Bill Keiserling’s reporting and that of the Patriot-News.   Today the Patriot News was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for reporting on the Sandusky scandal.   Bill and your editor are awaiting our Pulitizer Prize.  It must have gotten delayed in the mail.
