Lancaster County Commissioners will be approving the Community Development Block Grant fund (CDBG) allocations at their regular June 4th Meeting. Requests of over $800,000 were received, but with less than $500,000 available, officials had to choose which programs they would approved.
The funding, which comes from HUD, is heavily weighted on citizen participation and is performance based.
“These are never easy choices,” Aimee Tyson, Community Development Director, Lancaster Redevelopment Authority said.
Each month, agency’s are required to provide detailed reports which are monitored.
‘These are the most flexible of Federal funds,” Tyson said. “They are considered bricks and mortar fund, and serve all kinds of needs.”
