NCAA, Freeh Group had ‘extensive’ contact during Penn State investigation, Corman, McCord claim

HARRISBURG PATRIOT-NEWS: The latest volley was fired in a document state Sen. Jake Corman and Treasurer Rob McCord filed with the court Wednesday. In it, the pair accuse the NCAA of trying to block them from delving into how deeply the NCAA was involved in the Freeh Report’s development.

McCord and Corman claim that involvement was “extensive and substantive,” and far more close than the public was led to believe.

When it was released in July 2012, the Freeh Report was billed as an independent review, commissioned by Penn State leaders, into the university administration’s handling of the Sandusky debacle. Soon after the report was made public, the NCAA cited it to justify a consent agreement that slapped the university with sanctions, including a $60 million fine, that have generated a string of court battles… (more)
