Museum Tower will accelerate important trend

Although not for everyone (unlike former mayor Art Morris, we don’t enjoy running on city streets), we think that downtown living has much to offer empty nesters who are ready for a different, perhaps more exciting, lifestyle.

Furthermore, apart from the potential expansion of the Pennsylvania Academy of Music and partial conversion of the Brunswick into a full high school campus for talented young musicians from throughout the world, we cannot think of anything as likely to be of a benefit to downtown, the city and the county as as a “flight” back from the suburbs to downtown.

A half century ago, Conrad Hilton was asked for the three most important factors for building a hotel. He famously answered: “Location, location and location.” At Chestnut and Queen Streets, the Museum Tower is in a very good location, which will be a major factor for its success.

We found the web site for the “Lancaster Museum Tower” exciting, and are reproducing some of the material below:

Lancaster Museum Tower

The Lancaster Museum Tower Luxury Condominiums is offering a style of living unlike anything else in the heart of downtown Lancaster. With 36 exclusive residences available, the close proximity to over 250 boutique shops, art galleries, restaurants, performing arts venues, and museums are just the beginning of the rich heritage and entertainment found in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

“Ten stories of residential condos would sit atop a seven-story parking garage and an expanded Lancaster Art Museum at the northeast corner of Queen and Chestnut streets, just north of the Hotel Brunswick.” —Lancaster New Era

A unique mixed-use project between the Red Rose Transit Authority, Lancaster Museum of Art, and Lancaster Museum Tower, looks to transform the former parking lot at the comer of Queen and Chestnut Streets, into a vibrant pedestrian friendly area of downtown.

Building amenities include:

  • Reserved parking in secured level of parking garage at Sky lobby
  • From the Queen Street lobby there are two elevators available to take you to the Sky lobby on the 7th floor reserved parking level or to your new condominium home.
  • Rooftop garden, 1/2 acre of open space located on the 8th floor
  • Unparalleled views of Lancaster County
