Resplendent in a bluish seersucker suit and broad brim summer hat, Mayor Rick Gray held court over the noon hour at Penn square, vying with a huge yellow duck for pedestrian attention.
When a NewsLanc reporter brought up the recent closing of the Brunswick for a score of fire code violations, Gray explained that, after a recent routine inspection, the matter was brought to his attention by the fire department. He said he told them “Do what you think best and I will take the heat.”
He added that once the violations are corrected and the hotel re-opens, “It should be a gold mine. We need two or three hotels downtown.”
