Man arrested over Times Square plot

From the FINANCIAL TIMES:

A Pakistan-born US citizen had been arrested in connection with the weekend’s failed bomb attack on Times Square while attempting to flee the country, the US attorney-general announced early Tuesday morning.

Eric Holder told a press conference at 1:30am that Faisal Shahzad had been taken into custody at JFK Airport in New York as he was trying to board a flight to Dubai.

A joint statement by US authorities described Mr Shahzad as a naturalised citizen born in Pakistan and said that he had been arrested at 11:45pm on Monday “for allegedly driving a car bomb into Times Square”…

  1. I am exceedingly astounded that our judicial system took this long in order to coerce mr. Shahzad to admit to his crime. I still cannot conceptualize, It’s scary that I merely lived about 5 from him.

    It’s a little upsetting to recognize that this sort of terrorist act can be going on in my home backyard in Bridgeport.

    I’m grateful that no one was injured in the unsuccessful terrorism. If one of these New Yorkers were not so alert, this all might have had an entirely different feel.
