MADONNA: 87% of Pennsylvania voters back medical pot in Franklin & Marshall poll

PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE: Nearly nine in 10 Pennsylvania voters support making it legal for doctors to prescribe medical marijuana, but one state legislator is standing in the way because the drug is illegal under federal law.

A survey from the Center for Opinion Research at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster showed 87 percent of registered voters favor allowing adults to legally use marijuana for medical purposes on a doctor’s recommendation.

“We’re talking a majority of people in both parties, male or female,” said pollster and political science professor G. Terry Madonna. “Virtually every demographic, every region of the state. You can’t have almost nine in 10 voters support something and not have that.”… (more)
