Regarding the relationship between Nike and PSU, [this is one] of the “best”, and remember that “best” is a relative word, pieces I have read in the Lancaster Newspapers, actual thought-provoking questions and issues are brought to light.
They can do it!
Now, when do you think we will see them point that same lens towards themselves and questionable relationships that exist regarding the Convention Center project?
1) Penn Square Partners – Lancaster Newspapers – Fulton Bank and the role LNP plays as the local print media monopoly.
2) Stevens and Lee serving the County, the LCCCA AND PSP, and/or its component parts, before and during CC development/financing and in other roles.
3) PSP and Interstate Hotels and Resorts and whose interests are being served in day-to-day CC operations.
Of course, these stories, or ones that really deal with these issues, will NEVER appear in LNP, but LNP has actually shown that it can do it.
LNP has the ability to do investigative research and reporting when (and only when) it serves their best interests…. PSU articles SELLS PAPERS. Reporting on the Amish Mafia SELLS PAPERS. Creating snowstorm projection headlines SELLS PAPERS.
Expecting LNP to investigate and factually report on anything involving Mayor Gray and his police department; the unbelievably one-sided agreements between PSP and the Convention Center (which generate untold profits into LNP’s wallet – at taxpayer expense, no less!!); or anything else where LNP has a stake in the game would require ethical journalism.
Sadly, that is where LNP ownership and senior management falls drastically short of the mark.
