LETTER: Lancaster General makes “irresponsible and immoral choice”

Thought you should know and make your readers aware of recent changes in LGH (and associated practices) regarding providing confirmation of serious medical conditions to Pennsylvania Power and Light to prevent the disruption of service due to an inability to pay according to PP&L guidelines. Lancaster General will only provide confirmation for the use of oxygen or a CPAP machine. This provision is provided by the public utility commission and is intended to protect those who suffer medical conditions that could worsen or actually cause death without electricity.

I was told by a representative that this was due to the increase of requests for these forms to be submitted. This increase is hardly surprising when you consider the economy and fixed income.

This is an irresponsible and immoral choice by an organization that monopolizes health care in Lancaster county.

EDITOR: We invite a response from a spokesperson for LGH.

  1. Unfortunately, we will never hear about this from the LGH mouthpiece/shill also known as LNP (Least News Possible, also affectionately known as Last News Possible).

So…we will keep watching and waiting to read it on this website….the only true news organization in Lancaster County.

  2. Robert,

Can you give me the letter writer’s name and contact information? We’re not aware of a “recent change” to our practices in this regard. We’d like to understand who at LG Health spoke to the patient and ultimately resolve their concerns.

    Thanks,

    John [P. Lines]

EDITOR: While our sources are confidential, we invite the letter writer to contact Mr. Lines at Lancaster General Health.
