HARRISBURG PATRIOT-NEWS Op Ed: ….Why would the state put in place a well-respected and accomplished receiver in Harrisburg and then take away from him the essential tools he needs to negotiate with creditors?
I understand that the state does not want to see its capital city file for bankruptcy protection. It would have unfortunate ramifications for the city, the region and the state. I definitely agree with this concern, but the court-appointed receiver and his support team should be able to make that call.
The bankruptcy option needs to be on the table to place our creditors on official notice that they, too, will be major financial losers if they continue their unwillingness to take a huge reduction of the owed debts. Let’s face it, some of the “loaf” is better than no loaf at all… (more)
