Kathleen Kane, facing grand jury investigation, announces 2016 re-election bid

HARRISBURG PATRIOT NEWS: Even though a grand jury in Pennsylvania could very well hold her fate in its hands, Attorney General Kathleen Kane was in Manhattan this weekend, looking ahead to her 2016 re-election bid.

“I will be running for a second term,” Kane, a Democrat, said in an interview during this weekend’s annual Pennsylvania Society gala. “I love my job and I think it is the best place for me.”

Kane declined to discuss specifics of the investigation into whether her office improperly leaked grand jury information to embarrass a political critic.Kane appeared before the panel last month, offering the first formal confirmation that it even existed in the first place… (more)

EDITOR: The big story implicit in the above is not mentioned. By Kane announcing that she will run for Attorney General in 2016, she removes herself as a contender for Pat Toomey’s Senate seat.

  1. This, of course, helps Joe Sestak. She and McCord were the most troublesome opponents. Josh Shapiro has much to catch up on.

    I have no read on Kane. At one time I thought she was a troublemaker, a minor leaguer. Now I seriously am wondering if she is viewed as a serious threat to crack the white male control of our courts and judicial system. She doesn’t seem to want any help, or trust anyone else.

    What continues to make no sense was her quick disposal of the Hershey Trust investigation which gave her enemies an early pass.
