Kane adds chief of staff, realigns Pa. attorney general executive office

PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE: As a statewide grand jury investigates her office, Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane on Tuesday announced an executive staff shakeup that establishes a chief of staff.

Staff replacements are expected “after the kind of turbulent, damaging period she’s gone through,” said Christopher Borick, political science professor at Muhlenberg College in Allentown.

Kane is hiring Blake Rutherford as chief of staff at $141,301. A former chief of staff for an Arkansas attorney general, Rutherford has private-sector public relations experience. He holds a law degree from the University of Arkansas Law School… (more)

EDITOR: Our sense from meeting with her as a primary candidate and reviewing her background is that she needs the experienced help. It is a huge jump from being an assistant district attorney in Scranton to attorney general of the state.
