Following a raucous one-hour hearing in Norristown, PA, grand jury judge William Carpenter released the long-hidden presentment against Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane.
Carpenter had little choice in the matter, it appears. Lawyers for Kane, and special prosecutor Thomas Carlucci, both asked the judge to release secretive material.
“The public has the right to have this information be made public,” Kane’s attorney, Gerald Shargel, told the judge.
In January, Newslanc was one of the first (if not only) media organizations to ask for the presentment to be unsealed.
The presentment can be read and downloaded here.
Newslanc’s Bill Keisling attended today’s court hearing in Norristown. He’ll be posting more about the hearing in the coming hours and days.
