Judge Madenspacher ruling on confidentiality sides with hoteliers against Lancaster Newspapers

A ruling released on April 17 by President Judge Joseph Madenspacher isa victory for the office of the County Treasurer and thirteen local hotels in protecting the confidentiality of most of proprietory information contained on the monthly reports from hoteliers concerning revenue and taxes due on hotel room sales revenue.

Maddenspacher ruled: “The County shall release the information identifying the lodging facility, but shall redact the total amount of the Hotel Tax (line 4), the total amount of Excise Tax (line 5), and the total tax (line 6. The County shall also redact the Total Number of Occupied Room Nights (line2) …”
