Judge Carpenter’s statement re AG Kane’s assertion is unjudicial and disingenuous

According to Capitol Wire, Republican Montgomery County Judge William Carpenter, in response to Attorney General Kathleen Kane’s request to be allowed to release pornographic e-mails, stated the following:

“ ‘As the Supervising Judge of the 35th Statewide Investigating Grand Jury, I made no decision based upon politics, gender, anger, bias or prejudice. The emails that are in Attorney General Kane’s possession were not introduced into evidence before the 35th Statewide Investigating Grand Jury,’ said Montgomery County Judge William Carpenter, in a statement issued Thursday.”

However, Capitol Wire goes on to report, “Carpenter’s protective order does not mention porn, but prevents OAG [Office of the Attorney General] from retaliating against witnesses who testified to the grand jury investigating Kane over an alleged leak.”

Capitol Wire continues “‘The Attorney General’s office has long interpreted [Carpenter’s] court order as prohibiting the release of those emails and has previously turned down Right to Know requests due to that interpretation,’ said Kane spokesman Chuck Ardo. He said Kane’s lawyers plan to file a motion to vacate Carpenter’s order next week.”

By volunteering an unjudicial and disingenuous statement, Carpenter adds credibility to the assertion that Kane’s indictment is a Republican political attack.

  1. It would be in the best interest of clarity and fairness, to permit the release of all emails related to this case. Thank you.

EDITOR: Exactly, “All emails related to this case.” Thank you.

  2. There is more than porn in those emails. There is corruption between judges and prosecuting attorneys .

This goes beyond embarrassing and straight into fed.

    Crimes!
