WATCHDOG: Very funny title, but you have to be around 70 or older to understand the pun.
Prior to the creation of the Interstate Highway System, funny series of road side signs used to be grouped along the highways with the last one identifying the sponsor as “Burma Shave.”
Example: Every shaver / Now can snore / Six more minutes / Than before / By using / Burma-Shave
We suspect that whoever wrote the heading must be close to retirement.
Once we get past the humor stark reality appears. The Editorial is right on. China’s regional influence is increasing while US influence might be decreasing. Given the tremendous debt the Obama administration is accumulating, not to mention prior administrations, it is unlikely the US will be able to match the Chinese influence in the region. The US could be in for a rough time ahead in the region.
EDITOR: How would we react if the Chinese sent fleets to patrol just outside our Atlanic and Pacific territorial waters? Of course over time China’s influence in its backyard is going to be enhanced. But so long as it does not endanger our allies, why should we be concerned?
Sounds like pre-WW2 to me . The Chinese are amassing a huge Navy to supplement their existing huge army but they don’t intend to use it? And pray tell why would it not endanger our allies in the region? Does the US think a nuclear Japan isn’t possible? A nuclear Taiwan? A nuclear South Korea? I don’t.
