Paul Jones is our ‘hero’.
Here is what the Intelligencer Journal New Era sports reporter said of him in an article summarizing the subsequent careers of players who transferred out of Penn State:
“Paul Jones, QB, Robert Morris: Highly-regarded high-school player never developed QB acumen at Penn State. O’Brien moved him to tight end, so he left the program, and played intramural football (at QB) before transferring to FCS Robert Morris.
He started for the Colonials in 2013, completing 47 percent of his passes for 1,651 yards, 15 touchdowns and 11 interceptions for a 5-6 team. Has a year of eligibility remaining.
Does he miss Penn State? Probably not.
Does Penn State miss him? Certainly not.”
Jones wanted to be a college quarter back and recognized that he could not make the grade at Penn State and in the Big Ten. He transferred to a less demanding league and fulfilled his dream.
Helping youngster to live a productive and rewarding life is what a university should be about. We think Joe Paterno would be very happy for Jones. We certainly are.
Great to hear about his football achievements. Any indication how Robert Morris is helping him “…live a productive and rewarding life…”?
