Amtrak has installed computers in the lobby of the Amtrak station for payment of parking fees.
The problem is they require the license number of the car, not the parking space.
Not everyone memorizes the license number of his or her car(s). Also the car may be borrowed or rented.
Imagine a mother with two children and baggage having to go back to the long term parking area.
What about having just a few minutes to make the train?
A good alternative would be to allow the substitution of the parking lot number.
Try telling it to Amtrak.
