Hillary Clinton and Henry Kissinger put foreign policy in perspective

As a first in a series of interviews of former secretaries of state, Charlie Rose interviewed Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Henry Kissinger concerning the challenges and demands upon the State Department and its Secretary.

They place current challenges in historic perspective and explain the importance of reticence due to uncertainty about the future.   Henry Kissinger likens the current reform movements emerging throughout the Mid-East and Northern Africa as “Act one, scene one” of imponderables yet to come over future decades.  He points out that the initial leaders of revolutions are swiftly replaced by a second generation and part of the State Department’s job is to focus on who that new generation will be and what they will stand for.

We highly recommend the program to all persons with a serious interest in world affairs.
