Game wardens face danger daily

ALTOONA MIRROR:  Monday is expected to bring the annual influx of hunters to woods across the state as the two-week rifle season for deer kicks off,,.

The danger of their jobs has been painfully obvious in recent weeks with the shooting death of a game warden near Gettysburg on Nov. 11 and shots fired at two others last Saturday in northeastern Pennsylvania.

Given the nature of their jobs – working possibly alone in isolated areas and confronting armed people who may be hunting illegally and who might be intoxicated or under the influence of drugs – it’s amazing that there haven’t been more serious attacks on game wardens in the state… (more)
