Pre Concert by the Music For Everyone Strings at Crispus Attucks
Pianist Frances Veri will perform with her son, violinist Michael T. Jamanis, in a community concert at El Redentor and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church on Sunday, October 27 at 4 p.m. Student performances by the Music For Everyone strings at Crispus Attucks will begin at 3:30 p.m. The concert, partially funded by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, is free and open to the public.
This Capriccio concert series is designed to bring world class chamber music to multi-cultural audiences of all backgrounds and provide students a platform to perform during pre- concert activities.
The Capriccio concert on October 27 at El Redentor and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, located at East Farnum and South Queen Streets in Lancaster, begins at 4 p.m. with student performances at 3:30 p.m. The concert is free but a love offering will be accepted.
Following the student performances, Frances Veri and Michael Jamanis will perform three Beethoven Sonatas for Piano and Violin, Op. 12 numbers 1, 2 and 3. Ms. Veri, a worldwide performer and member of ASCAP, has composed and arranged pieces heard on PBS and Book of the Month Club recordings.
This program engages professional musicians and student mentors to enhance the music programs at public schools. Jamanis is also a senior adjunct assistant professor at Franklin and Marshall College and has recently initiated a string program at Lancaster Catholic High School. Both are Juilliard trained musicians.
