Ex-Penn State VP seeks dismissal of perjury charge

The attorney representing former Penn State University Senior Vice President Gary Schultz has asked a judge to dismiss a perjury charge related to the child sex abuse scandal involving former football assistant coach Jerry Sandusky.

Schultz’s attorney says Pennsylvania prosecutors have not presented a necessary corroborating witness to prove that Schultz lied to a grand jury investigating the allegations against Sandusky.

EDITORS: We would bet dollars to donuts that the charges against the Penn State executives will be dropped and a plea bargain will be negotiated with Gerald Sandusky.

Governor Tom Corbett can ill afford for any of these cases to go to trial because his bungling as attorney general and then heavy handed diversionary intervention as governor will be examined under the public spotlight.

  1. I’ll bet the charges are dropped but I wouldn’t bet on a plea bargain for Sandusky. That case is as hollow as the governor’s head.
