Democrats splinter over governor race endorsement

YORK DISPATCH / AP: Democratic Party candidates will go into the crowded gubernatorial primary campaign without an official endorsement.

Party committee members were splintered among five candidates Saturday during two rounds of voting at their winter meeting. State Treasurer Rob McCord received the most votes in both rounds, but fell short of the two-thirds majority necessary to win an endorsement.

Before the vote, McCord acknowledged that he didn’t expect to win a two-thirds vote. But he still pushed for a vote over protests by the campaign of U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz and says he hopes to at least parlay his showing into campaign volunteers… (more)
